Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith includes only those truths upon which all true Christians agree.  It concerns the Person and Work of Jesus Christ (the Gospel) as revealed in Scripture.  It is the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 2, Ephesians 4:5) which distinguishes believers from non-believers.  There are many other precious truths taught in the Bible over which godly men have differed in understanding.  Therefore, this is not a statement of all that is important to believe, but of all that is essential to believe for Christian fellowship and unity (Romans 15:7).

1.    We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.

2.    We believe that there is one living and true God; an infinite, intelligent Spirit, perfect in all His attributes, one in essence, but eternally subsistent in three Persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3.    We believe in the fall of man; although originally created in the image of God, through the disobedience of Adam, man fell into a sinful and spiritually impotent state, totally unable to justify himself before God.

4.    We believe that Jesus Christ is the express image of the invisible God, which is to say He is God; that He became man, yet without sin, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that He died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for sin; that He arose from the dead in the body in which He was crucified; that He ascended into heaven in the body glorified, where He is now, our interceding High Priest; and that He will return again personally, visibly, and gloriously.

5.    We believe that salvation is wholly of God, by grace; that God in love gave His only Son to die on the cross for sin, thus procuring the redemption of those who come to Him; that this salvation is not merited in any way by man; and that God commands men everywhere to repent of sin and believe in Christ.

Member Ethics

As a member of GWCHE, I will….

  • Conduct my personal life and business affairs in a way that will not bring shame or reproach to the name of the Lord, of GWCHE or of its members. Rather, I will speak to bring glory and pleasure to our Lord and encourage others to do likewise. (1 Peter 1:14-15, 2:12, 4:11)
  • Regard relationship as more important than activity. I will earnestly adhere to my Christian duty to treat others with love and respect at all times. (John 13:35)
  • Respect and support GWCHE’s mission, purpose, by-laws, policies and guidelines, as well as GWCHE’s leadership as they endeavor to do the same. (Romans 13:1)
  • When I have sinned against another or a fellow member has sinned against me, I will follow the biblical mandate given in Matthew 5:23-24 and Matthew 18:15-17. (Psalm 139:23)

Code of Conduct

Expected Behavior

  • All meetings/activities will begin with prayer.
  • In accordance with the Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12), children will respect and obey adults and show respect for others by word and action.
  • Both parents and children should dress modestly and appropriately.
  • There will be no public display of affection or courtship-type behavior at GWCHE functions.
  • Respectful titles such as “Mr.” and “Mrs.” are encouraged.
  • We, adults and children alike, will show honor and respect for others during meetings by:
    1. giving leaders and speakers our quiet interest and full attention.
    2. saving fellowship with others for afterwards.
    3. refraining from running inside any buildings, making unnecessary noise, climbing on furniture, playing with machinery or other property belonging to others. (Any damages incurred will be the responsibility of the parent.)

Discipline Guidelines

To deter repeated misbehavior on the part of children at GWCHE sponsored events, these guidelines are deemed necessary:

  • Correct the child in such a way that is not distracting or an embarrassment to others at the activity, leaving area if necessary.
  • Any parent witnessing misbehavior has a right to verbally correct and guide any child who is not complying with GWCHE regulations, provided the child’s parent is not nearby. When the parent is near, the witnessing adult should speak to the parent, giving him/her the opportunity to correct the child before proceeding to correct the child himself/herself.
  • Adults should report ongoing problems to the activity leader. When the activity leaders are unable to resolve any ongoing problems, they should consult with the Director of Activities. In turn, the coordinator will notify the Board of Directors.

Disciplinary Action

The GWCHE Board will take the following disciplinary actions when a child has been reported to the Board:

  • A male Board member will call the father (or mother, if father is not living at home) and tell him that his child has been reported. The parents are expected to correct the behavior at this point.
  • If a Board member has to call a second time, a warning letter will also be sent by the Board and the child not allowed to participate in any GWCHE functions for four weeks.
  • If the child is reported to the Board a third time, the child will be required to appear with a parent before the GWCHE Board before participating in further GWCHE functions.
  • If parents wish to appeal, the GWCHE Board will consider appeals on a case-by-case basis.

Liability Release

  • I acknowledge that GWCHE cannot guarantee the safety or appropriateness of activities offered by or sponsored by GWCHE or its members. Evaluating the safety and appropriateness of activities sponsored by GWCHE or it's members is the responsibility of parents.
  • I will not hold GWCHE, its members, its Board of Directors, or its officers financially responsible or liable for any damages or injuries, which may occur in connection with any activity, sponsored or organized by GWCHE or its members.
